NEW BERLIN – It was a wild game between the Unadilla Valley Storm and the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls’ soccer teams on Monday evening. After a scoreless first half, both teams still battled to the finish, but it was B-G that came away with the victory halfway through the second half and won 1-0. UV outshot B-G, but could not let one slide past a tough Danica Park.
UV honored its six seniors at halftime. Congratulations to Emma Bonacci, Natalie Crandall, Gracie Gorrell, Adrienne Hodge, Emmalyn Montgomery, and Shelby Rose.
Both teams were fired up on defense throughout the entire 80 minutes of play. B-G scored on a direct kick 25 yards out from Jayslin Henderson, which was almost saved by UV’s Kora Johnson. UV continued to battle and see good movement from Noelle Fernandez-Naughton, Natalie Crandall, Myriah Taylor, Shelby Rose, and Gracie Gorrell. However, tough defense by B-G’s Hannah Shackleton and others broke up UV’s ultimate path to the goal. UV defenders did the same with Avery Hill stepping up and hustling for the ball with help from Rose, Natalya Schrag, and even Sophie Bell.
