Norwich XC hosts Tornado 5000 in Bainbridge

BAINBRIDGE –With construction still ongoing at Norwich High School, the Norwich Purple Tornado cross country team held their Tornado 5000 meet at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge. The meet featured Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, Lansing, Sidney, Chenango Valley, Chenango Forks, Thomas A. Edison, and Unadilla Valley/GMU.
Norwich also honored its four seniors. Congratulations to Gabe Decker, Caden Sutton, Kyra Brunick-Davis, and Anne Boland.
Varsity Girls:
With Lansing taking the first two positions, UV/GMU's Andrea Favinger finished third with a time of 21:38. BGAH's Maddie Ingham took fourth followed by teammates Jalyn Winans (5th), Vanessa Brazee (6th), Lelaenia Baldwin (7th), and Laila Williams (8th). Kyra Brunick-Davis came in ninth for Norwich with a time of 23:54 as Anne Boland finished 17th with UV/GMU's Kathleen Pizzuto slightly ahead of her in 16th. BGAH's Marissa Mayo came in 18th with Ruth Wilson in 19th while Loegan Barnard finished 25th and Amber Kolb in 27th. Norwich's Laci Zieno took the final spot in 28th place.
Varsity Boys:
Chenango Valley and Sidney male runners took the first two spots, which left Norwich's Caden Sutton in third with a time of 18:19. His brother Nic Sutton followed in fourth place (18:28) as BGAH's Owen Degan followed in fifth and UV/GMU's Jake Favinger in sixth. BGAH's Thomas Joyce finished 10th as Rowan Beasinger came in 19th and Aidan Quick with a 20th place finish. UV/GMU's Dominic Berthel took 24th place with BGAH's Ethan Beardslee finished 30th and teammate Connor Rowe in 39th place. Norwich's Gabe Decker took 37th with a time of 25:22 as BGAH's Charles Buccino (45th) and Zack Reynolds (46th) rounded out the male runners.
