BAINBRIDGE – After starting the 2024 season 5-0, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats football dropped their last two games, including Friday’s tough matchup against an unbeaten Deposit/Hancock team by a score of 49-12.
“We wanted to slow the game down,” B-G head coach Art Rigas said. “We knew going in that they had a high-powered offense, so we wanted to go score-for-score with them. But, we had costly mistakes with a holding call and a fumble and you can’t get that back. It is what it is. Next week is a clean slate and all about starting over and not making those mistakes.”
After being down 26-0 with under five minutes left, B-G got on the board with a touchdown pass to Parker Buttice to make it 26-6. B-G also recovered a fumble on the next defensive drive, recovered by Declyn Marshfield, who saw good action on both sides of the field. This play happened after B-G’s Elliott Briggs put pressure on the quarterback and almost had a sack, but the quarterback threw the ball away.
