Volleyball: UV defeats Greene in final match of 2024 season

NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm volleyball team hosted the Greene Trojans in the MAC consolation round, which indicated the final match of the 2024 season for both teams. UV defeated Greene in all three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-8, and 25-7. Both teams gave it their best effort with the season ending.
UV was led by Shyla Roberts with 11 aces and three kills as Shannon Gilbert finished her final match with six aces and a kill. Shaleigh West also played in her last match as a senior, where she earned one assist. Piper Hine added five aces and had an assist while Cheyanne McMahon finished with four aces and Hunter Sherman had one kill. Brynley Luca had two aces as Jade Cook, Madison Pierce, and Lillian Phillips finished with one ace each. Pierce also finished with two assists while Cook picked up one assist.
Sidra Root led the Trojans with two digs and picked up one ace, along with Holly Pierce. Pierce, Bella Begley, and Serenity Douglas all contributed with one kill each as Morgan Quarella had one assist.
Good season to both teams and good luck to the seniors.

B-G falls to second seed Delhi 3-1 in the championship bracket of MAC pool play. B-G took the first set by a score of 25-18, but then fell in the final three. Alessandra Cafasso led the Bobcats with 10 digs.
Seventh seed Harpursville/Afton ends its season with a 3-0 win over sixth seed Unatego. Abby Baburchak led the team with 19 service points and eight aces.
The match between 4-Oxford and 1-Walton was postponed due to a shortage of officials. The winner of this match will play Delhi in the MAC Championship.
