Norwich girls swim hosts Maine-Endwell

NORWICH – On Thursday, October 17, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ swim team hosted Maine-Endwell with the 2024 season winding down. Norwich has two more regular season meets before prelims.

Norwich continues to improve through its experienced and youth swimmers. As a team, Norwich won the 200 yard freestyle relay with Nina Kman, Alexandra Shtrauch, Meghan Funk, and Mikayla Sastri. Norwich also finished second in the 400 yard relay and took third in the 200 yard medley relay with a team of Kaelyn Conant, Raeley Patterson, Jillian Petrie, and Brynn Meek.

Individually, there were multiple girls who dropped significant time and earned new personal bests. Alexandra Shtrauch earned a new personal best in the 200 yard individual medley event, where she came in second with a time of 2:46.72, behind leader’s 2:32.81. Kaelyn Conant finished fifth in the same event with a time of 3:13.80.

Shtrauch also finished third in the breaststroke, achieving a new best time of 1:27.77 with teammate Patterson earning a new best time of 1:52.42 for fifth place.
