Chenango Youth Philanthropy Council hosting kickoff event
NORWICH — The Chenango Youth Philanthropy Council (CYPC) will be hosting their kickoff event on Thursday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus.
The CYPC is made up of students in the Norwich, Sherburne-Earlville, and Unadilla Valley School Districts. Each year the three groups meet for a kickoff event in the fall.
"[It brings] the students together as one group to go over the focus of the council as a whole, and then we’re having some guest speakers come in to talk about their philanthropy projects that they do," explained CYPC Coordinator Anna Natoli. "Then I have the recipients from last year who received our grant money, so they can explain to the students how they ended up using the funds that we gave them."
This year's guest speakers include Aunt Mary's House Executive Director Brenda White, who will be telling the students about the Improve Norwich Now, Aunt Mary's House, and Fostering Futures New York Chenango County, as well as local philanthropist Julianna Grenada, a ten-year-old who does fundraising to support the homeless.
