NORWICH — The Place, located at 22 East Main Street in Norwich, will be offering a free American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course for Chenango County youth aged 11 to 16 on Saturday, November 16 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"I am teaching the kids how to start a babysitting business, how to continue running it, how to branch out, how to safely get clients, and then we go over the skills, what you’ll need to be a babysitter. Then we do the first aid and CPR piece," explained Authorized Instructor and The Place Teen Program Coordinator Elizabeth Hathaway, who will be teaching the class.

There will also be another Babysitter Training Course offered in December. The Place Executive Director Sharon Vesely said they're hoping to host the course in another area of the county, but they have not yet secured a location.

The class will cover the care of infants and children, first aid and CPR training, how to handle emergencies, how to write resumes and prepare for job interviews, networking with fellow babysitters, and more.
