BGAH XC at Class C Championship; girls win second straight, boys finish fourth

CHENANGO VALLEY — All local Chenango County cross country teams were in action over the weekend at the Section IV championships. Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville represented Class C and were the only complete local team to receive team points, where the girls won their second straight sectional title and the boys took fourth of 11 teams. It was the first year in program history that the boys were able to place as a complete team. Congratulations to all athletes.

Girls:

The BGAH girls are heading to states on Saturday after winning their second consecutive championship. Maddie Ingham led the Bears with a third place finish as Laeni Baldwin earned a new personal best time of 22:05.20 for sixth place.

Jalyn Winans took ninth place with Vanessa Brazee in 10th place. Laila Williams finished 15th with Ruth Wilson achieving a new personal best time of 25:07.60 in 21st place. Marissa Mayo followed with a 22nd place finish as Loegan Barnard (38th) and Amber Kolb (41st) rounded out the female runners.
