S-E/Hamilton swim team opens 2024 season vs Oneida

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville/Hamilton co-ed swim team opened its 2024 season with a home meet against Oneida on Monday. The team consists of eight swimmers this season with many returners and two new Hamilton swimmers; Madelyn Chouinard and Amelia Furlong.

Coach Sarah Hill noted that most of her swimmers were already right on with their best times from the end of last season within their first two weeks of practice, so everyone has been working very hard.

S-E’s Amelia Casscles, Colin Maguire, Lydia Larcher, Chouinard, and Furlong all picked up new personal bests. Furlong impressed Coach Hill with swimming three events in a row, which includes the 500 freestyle, with strength in all as only a freshman. Casscles dropped two seconds in the 50 freestyle and about four seconds in her 100 freestyle. Maguire achieved a new personal best in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 29.25 for third place. Larcher earned a new personal best in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.75.
