Greene girls dominant in home opener vs SCC

GREENE – After opening the season with a strong performance against Blue Ridge, the Greene girls' basketball team hosted Seton Catholic Central for their 2024 home opener. Greene dominated the game, securing a commanding 68-12 victory, fueled by their relentless defense and balanced play.

The Trojans showcased their defensive strength in the first half, allowing just one field goal and a single free throw. On offense, Greene exploded with 24 points in the third quarter. Three players scored in double digits, while the rest of the team contributed at least two points each, highlighting a well-rounded performance.

Abby Yahner led the Trojans with 17 points, all within the first three quarters. Cali Knapp followed with 12 points as Mia Yahner chipped in 10 points. Josie Dutcher added eight points while Claire Flanagan had seven and Mya Leggett-Carlin with six points.

Lexi Cloyd had four points as Kenley Jenks and Kendra Ekstrom dished in a basket apiece in the victory.

Greene (2-0) hosts Unadilla Valley on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
