Greene girls back on track with win over Union Springs
JOHNSON CITY – After falling short to Chenango Valley in the opening round of the Mark Woitach girls tip-off tournament on Thursday, the Greene Trojans girls basketball team got back on track with a close 48-40 win over Union Springs in the consolation game.
It was a competitive Class C match-up, where the Trojans picked up the pace and played strong in the last 20 minutes after a slow start. They started down 10 points midway through the second quarter before they took the lead and excelled in both the third and fourth quarters to secure the victory.
"Union Springs is an excellent team. It was a good win for us," Greene's head coach Dave Gorton said.
