NORWICH — Annie’s Thrift Store, located at 5311 NY Highway 12 in Norwich, recently collaborated with the Area Agency on Aging of Chenango County to donate items to Norwich seniors.
Store Owner Annie Smith has been running the store since 2016 and said they do something different every year.
“Last year we did letters to Santa and gave a monetary amount to children in need and this year we decided we wanted to help the seniors,” said Smith.
“Customers either bought something here and made the donation or they bought it elsewhere and brought it in.” she said.
Smith gave thanks to all that donated to “Angels of Hope” and mentioned they raised more than they expected.
“I’m just a little store and we raised over $3,000; that was a pretty big deal,” said Smith.
She said this was a huge success in her eyes and intends to continue donating, hoping to increase donations every year.
“Our seniors are forgotten and we wanted to help those that are sometimes overlooked,” she added.
Agency for Aging Director Heather Felter said Program Aide Rebecca Weeks was the key point of contact for the donations that would be placed under the Giving Tree.
