BINGHAMTON – The Norwich Purple Tornado and the Greene Trojans boys basketball teams spent their holiday break in the Coaches vs Cancer Invitational over the weekend, held at VFCU Arena in Binghamton. Norwich was rolling along with a hot win streak as Greene looked for their first win of the season.
Unfortunately, Norwich fell to Union-Endicott on Saturday after defeating Johnson City and Greene dropped both games. However, Norwich senior Steven Dowdall celebrated a milestone. He scored 30 points in Friday's 69-43 win over Johnson City and only needed 11 more points to score 1000 career points.
He did it! Saturday, he broke 1000 points and scored 20 points in the 81-71 loss to U-E. He is the seventh player in Norwich High School history to score 1000 points, he is also the fifth boys player to do so, and the first boy since 2002. Congratulations Steven!
Kassen Stubb and Cooper Chrystie had nine points each in the game against Johnson City as Stubb added 20 points on Saturday.
Greene dropped to Dryden on Friday 71-31, where senior Kloden Rapp scored a team-high seven points. Jacob Eroshevich scored 11 points in the 67-41 loss to Sus Valley on Saturday.
