B-G girls win Kazalski tournament
BAINBRIDGE –The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls basketball team hosted the 46th annual Kazalski tournament over the holiday weekend, featuring Harpursville, GMU, and Gilboa-Roxsbury. The Lady Bobcats took down both Harpursville and GMU to win the tournament and keep the title at home.
Jayslin Henderson earned tournament MVP while teammate Peyton Umbra made all-tournament team, along with GMU's Kaden O'Hara and Alyssa Sorochinsky.
B-G defeated Harpursville 56-25 on Friday night. Jayslin Henderson led the Bobcats with 15 points as Marissa Mayo finished with 10 points. Laila Williams added seven points as Peyton Umbra and Chandler Benjamin contributed with six points apiece.
The Bobcats held GMU to 11 points in the 52-11 victory on Saturday. GMU's Sorochinsky had 10 points and O'Hara with a free-throw in the loss.
Both Jayslin Henderson and Marissa Mayo posted a double-double in Saturday's championship win. Henderson finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals. Mayo chipped in 14 points as well with 12 rebounds. Breanna Casey had six points while Laila Williams added 10 rebounds.
B-G (6-2) begins the new year at Stamford/Jefferson on January 8 at 7 p.m.
