Oxford boys earn big league win over UV

NEW BERLIN – The Oxford Blackhawks and the Unadilla Valley Storm boys basketball teams met for a local league matchup on Tuesday night with both teams coming off tournament play over winter break. Oxford picked up the big 82-36 road victory to improve to an even 3-3 on the season.

Everyone for Oxford at least contributed with three points and as a team, Oxford made eight three-pointers and went 8-for-11 at the free-throw line. Ben Sheridan led the Blackhawks with 17 points with three three’s as Donovan Rickard had 13 points and Richard Hunter added 10 points with two three’s. Gordon Smith chipped in nine points off the bench as Sam Hendricks finished with eight points and Nic Dodzweit had seven points. Jared Sheridan had six points while Kyle Benjamin added five, Landen Olinski with four points, and Aiden Mellem knocked in a three in the fourth quarter.

Haywood Edwards and Denzel Peter led the Storm with eight points apiece while Preston York had seven. Declan Potter and Braden Golliver both added five points and Seth Meagley finished with three points in the loss.
