GREENE - The Greene Central School District is investigating allegations of misconduct involving a staff member accused of striking a student, according to a statement issued by Superintendent Lisa-Marie Carter on Thursday.
The allegation was reported on Friday, January 10, prompting the district to immediately begin an investigation in coordination with law enforcement and legal counsel. The staff member was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation. The district has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement and to follow all policies during the process.
"The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority," Carter stated. "Any actions that jeopardize student safety are unacceptable, and staff actions that place the safety of our students at risk will not be tolerated in our school community."
Carter said the district is conducting a review of safety and training protocols to ensure professional standards. She also said further details could not be disclosed until the investigation has been completed.
