New Berlin Police arrest woman for stealing vehicle from school parking lot

NEW BERLIN - A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle from the Unadilla Valley Central School parking lot, the New Berlin Police Department reported on Thursday.
According to police, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 officers responded to the school after a victim reported that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot. As part of the investigation, officers reviewed security footage from the school.
The next day on January 15, New Berlin officers developed information identifying a suspect, which led to the arrest of Kayla VanPelt, 26, and the recovery of the stolen vehicle in Morris.
VanPelt has been charged with grand larceny in the third degree. Police are reviewing additional charges.
