Norwich wrestlers fall short to Ithaca

ITHACA –On Friday, the Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling team returned to the mat on the road against Ithaca. Norwich fell short 39-34 in the dual meet.

Norwich is currently last in the STAC East division with a league record of 0-3 and are 3-13 overall. Windsor could win the STAC East with a 3-0 league record.

Norwich's Briley Beckwith started strong in the 101 weight class match, where she pinned Zackary Brenner in 1:12. Jadyn Carpenter won by technical fall against Will Fritz after leading 15-0.

Bryce Wellington earned a win by pin over Christopher Jett while Kolby Vielandi won by tech fall over Kenzie Burke 16-1.

Jack Barnes pinned Shy'Von Williams in 3:45 in the 190 weight class match while Ryan Evans laid down the hard 5:25 pin in the 285 match.

Evan Heath, Noah Eddy, Joey Parker, Teagyn Demuth, Blayne Sutton, and Cyrus Graham gave their best but fell in tough matches.

Norwich heads to the STAC Championship on January 24 before hosting Sherburne-Earlville on January 28.
