OV boys come away with big win over Brookfield

BROOKFIELD – After getting back on track with a win over Afton on Monday, the Otselic Valley Vikings boys basketball team got past a struggling Brookfield team for the second time this season. OV defeated the Brookfield Beavers 60-35 in a league game to improve to 6-5 on the season.
Both teams played up in the first half with OV taking a brief 27-20 halftime lead. OV picked up the pace after the break, which helped them on both ends of the court. The intensity carried through for the rest of the game.
Lukas Schieferstein, Caleb Loomis, Payne Wood, and Owen Davis all posted double-digit scoring for OV. Schieferstein led the team with a best 22 points with two threes, four rebounds, and three steals. Loomis followed with 13 points and a team-best seven assists to go along with three steals.
Wood added 12 points with seven rebounds, four steals, and three blocks while Owen Davis had 11 points and six steals. Konyr Clemens contributed with two points in the win.
OV (6-5) heads to DeRuyter on Tuesday at 7 p.m. OV hopes to split the two-game set with the Rockets, after they won at OV in the second game of the season 62-37.
