Norwich PD: Parolee with illegal gun flees officers and rams police vehicle

NORWICH - A vehicle pursuit involving an armed New York State parolee ended in a collision with a City of Norwich police vehicle early Sunday morning, according to police.

According to Norwich Police Chief Reuben J. Roach, at approximately 12:01 a.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Cody Amidon, 23, of Norwich.

A pursuit ensued for several blocks and ended in the parking lot of Cobbler Square Apartments. Police allege that Amidon refused to exit his vehicle and intentionally struck a marked Norwich patrol car before being taken into custody.
