Norwich girls top Owego

OWEGO – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team traveled to Owego on Saturday afternoon, where they returned home with a 59-39 victory.

After a slow start, Norwich picked up the pace throughout the remainder of the contest, posting a team-high 21 points in the third quarter. The Purple Tornado defense held Owego to eight points in both the first and fourth quarters to build a steady lead, where they outscored the River Hawks 34-19 in the second half alone.

Brynley Ryan posted 20 points to lead the team, hitting three threes and scored 10 points in the third quarter. Josey Ryan and Emma Urgo both finished with 14 points each as Kerragan Reid scored seven off the bench. Alivia Burrell chipped in four points.
