BG girls fall short to Unatego

BAINBRIDGE – It was a tough matchup between the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats and the Unatego Spartans on Saturday night. Both teams battled, especially in the second half in a fight to the finish, which Unatego captured the 36-32 victory.

It was a physical and intense game with both teams playing a strong defense to start. Unatego took a brief 12-11 lead at halftime before BG came out strong after the break.

In the third quarter, B-G outscored Unatego 11-8 to take a 22-18 lead. However, the Spartans took the lead back in the final eight minutes, where top scorer, Lizzy Craft had 10 of 12 points in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.

The Bobcats were led by Peyton Umbra with a best 15 points, where she hit three three-pointers in the second half. Jayslin Henderson followed with 10 points as Marissa Mayo finished with five points and Tori Suda with a basket in the third quarter.
