The 2024-25 Section III and IV boys’ and girls’ basketball tournament schedule
CHENANGO COUNTY – Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 regular season schedule for all boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, the Section III and IV tournament schedule has officially been announced.
Chenango County will be well-represented as both Norwich boys and girls, Oxford and B-G boys and girls, and Greene girls, who had a strong season, all made sectionals. The Otselic Valley and Sherburne-Earlville boys are proudly representing Section III. The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton boys are entering the Section IV, Class D tournament.

Boys:
B-G:
The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball team finished seventh in the MAC and 11-9 in the regular season, which earned them the 11 seed in the Section IV, Class C tournament. The Bobcats will face sixth seed Candor on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Richfield Springs/ODY and Trumansburg.
Oxford:
The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ basketball team (11-7) heads into the Section IV, Class C tournament as the 10th seed after a strong season, making it to the semifinals of the MAC league playoffs and finishing third in the league. Oxford travels to the seventh seed Union Springs on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner will face Delhi, who earned a bye as two seed.
Norwich:
The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ basketball team earned the third seed in the Section IV, Class A tournament after finishing the regular season with a 14-4 record. As the third seed, Norwich gets to host the first round of sectionals, where they’ll face six-seeded Windsor on Friday, February 28 at 6 p.m. The winner faces the winner of the Chenango Valley and Maine-Endwell game on March 4. Norwich swept the two game series against the Black Knights during the regular season.
GMU:
The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton boys’ basketball team earned the eighth seed in the Section IV, Class D tournament after finishing the regular season with a 9-11 record. The Blue Raiders host Gilboa-Conn./Roxbury on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Sherburne-Earlville:
The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves boys’ basketball team finished the regular season with a 6-14 record and will host Canastota in the opening round of the Section III, Class B tournament. The Timberwolves defeated the Raiders both times they faced them in the regular season. The winner will face top seed Marcellus on Monday at 7 p.m. S-E and Canastota square off this evening at Kevin Vibbard Court at 6 p.m.
OV:
The Otselic Valley Vikings boys’ basketball team finished the regular season at 8-12 and earned the 12th seed in the Section III, Class D tournament. OV faces the fifth seed Town of Webb this evening at 6 p.m. The winner will face Stockbridge Valley, who the Vikings played in the final game of the regular season, on Wednesday.
Girls:
B-G:
The Bainbridge-Guilford girls’ basketball team finished the regular season with a 14-6 record and along with sectional points, they are the ninth seed in the Class C tournament. Their first round game will be at the eighth seeded Southern Cayuga on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The winner will take on top seeded Newark Valley on March 1. B-G and Southern Cayuga met in the opening round of sectionals last year, where B-G won 48-33.
Oxford:
The Oxford Blackhawks girls’ basketball team finished with an even record of 10-10, which earned them the 14 seed in Class C. Oxford will be at the third seed Moravia on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Moravia won class C last year, where they defeated Greene in the semi-finals, and won the 2024 state tournament.
Greene:
The Greene Trojans girls’ basketball team, who is playing Sidney in the MAC league championship this Saturday in Oxford, picked up the second seed with Newark Valley as the top seed. Both teams pick up a bye in the first round and will each host the quarterfinals. Greene will host the winner of Delhi/Candor on March 1 at 6 p.m.
Norwich:
After a strong finish to the regular season, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ basketball team is heading to sectionals, representing one of the five Section IV, Class A teams. Norwich finished the regular season with a record of 10-7 and earned a bye week for the first round of sectionals as the third seed. Norwich heads to second seed Chenango Valley on March 5 at 6 p.m. for the semifinals, where admission will be charged.
