S-E boys come away with win over Canastota, advance to face top seed in Class B

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves boys’ basketball team faced familiar foes Canastota in the opening round of the Section III, Class B tournament on Friday. S-E was able to host one final game at Kevin Vibbard Court, where they pulled out a 49-41 victory to advance to play top-seed Marcellus.

S-E kicked off the game strong with outscoring Canastota 13-9 in the opening minutes before continuing at a steady pace to give them a 27-20 edge at halftime.

The Timberwolves remained consistent with scoring 11 points in the final two quarters and their defense stopped the Raiders from any big runs to secure the victory.

Nick Hull and Garret Winton led the charge for S-E. Hull finished his final home game of his high school basketball career with 19 points, hitting three three-pointers. Winton, also a senior, followed with 18 points.
