NORWICH — Stop by the Norwich Community Kitchen at St. Bartholomew's Parish Center at 81 East Main Street in Norwich every Tuesday now through the end of May. Doors open at 4 p.m., and dinner is served at 5 p.m.
The Norwich Community Kitchen is open to all, free of charge and no questions asked. Individuals are invited to simply show up and take a seat, and volunteers will serve them that week's meal.
Dinners usually include a main dish, a side, vegetables, a dessert, drinks, and yogurt donated by Chobani.
Each week's menu is usually posted in community Facebook groups such as Chenango County Scanner Nerds and Chenango County Community.
In the past, menus have included macaroni and cheese, hamburgers and fries, chicken and biscuits, barbecue chicken sandwiches, spaghetti and meatballs, beef stew, Swedish meatballs and noodles, chili, hot turkey sandwiches, and more.
Norwich Community Kitchen Spokesperson JoAnn Testani said although the kitchen's goal is to provide free, hot meals to individuals from Chenango County and the surrounding areas, the weekly dinners also provide a space for community members to socialize and connect.
