Norwich softball drops to Waverly

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team hosted Waverly for its second straight home game on the new turf field. Norwich fell 20-1 to a tough Wolverines team.

Norwich plated their only run in the bottom of the fifth inning off a sacrifice bunt from Shaelyn Rice, bringing home Loralee Brown from third with the play to first. Brown had reached on an infield single to lead off the inning before stealing both second and third.

Norwich stacked up five hits on the day, despite only the one run. Brown had two of the five hits while Bri Cirigliano, Ava Cirigliano, and Emma Baker each contributed with one hit.
