Greene softball defeats UV/GMU

NEW BERLIN – The Greene Trojans and Unadilla Valley/GMU Storm softball teams matched up on Friday in a local MAC league contest. Greene, coming off a hard loss to Harpursville, got back on track with a big 23-2 win over the Storm.

Greene was off to an early 6-0 start and added 10 extra runs in the second inning. The Trojans scored its final seven runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, including one run in their last at-bat.

Greene’s 10-run second inning was sparked by Kenzie Button reaching on a hit by pitch to start before advancing to second on a wild pitch and to third after tagging up on a line out. Button scored on an error.

With two runners on with one out, Mia Yahner drove in a run on a tough play in the infield for a hit. An error drove in another run before Audra Doll singled to shortstop to drive in Yahner.
