NORWICH — The Place's Mommy and Me art classes will be returning on Friday, May 16. Classes will be held at The Place, located at 22 East Main Street in Norwich, from 5 to 6 p.m. every Friday from May 16 to June 27, with no class on June 20.

The Mommy and Me art classes are free for Chenango County residents and open to children under the age of 5. Local artist Jill Kraft will be facilitating the classes.

"Jill Kraft is the facilitator of this class. She has many creative art activities planned, including some fingerprinting. All of the activities will assist in developing motor skills and foster creativity," said The Place Executive Director Sharon Vesely. "Another great aspect of the class is the socialization for the children and the parents. For young children, this socialization can help in developing language and social skills."

Vesely said Kraft will be around to help out, but children are encouraged to unleash their creativity and make whatever they'd like.

All materials and supplies will be provided, but if children have a favorite smock at home they are welcome to bring it along to class.
