B-G softball defeats Oxford in MAC consolation

BAINBRIDGE – After falling to Greene in the semifinals, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team hosted Oxford in a MAC consolation game. B-G got back on track with a 6-4 victory over the Blackhawks.

B-G got on the board first and held a 1-0 lead up until the fifth, adding five more runs. Oxford answered back with a four-run sixth inning, but nothing more to help them make an overall comeback.

With two outs in the bottom of the first, Alessandra Cafasso singled to center and scored on Jayslin Henderson’s double to right.

Back-to-back singles from Brenna George and Breanna Casey to start the bottom of the fifth helped B-G extend their lead. Danica Park brought in George, who stole second and advanced to third, on a groundout/

Casey scored on a wild pitch before Cafasso singled, stole second and hustled in to score on a single by Henderson. An error brought in B-G’s sixth run of the game before the Blackhawks’ defense caught Kate Baciuska stealing second on a play by Tiannah Dean-Anderson and Jenna Denz.
