B-G softball falls short to Oneonta in SFCU championship game

ONEONTA – After both teams won their first tournament games, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats and the Oneonta Yellow Jackets faced off for the SFCU tournament championship game at Oneonta High School.
Oneonta, down 3-1 in the contest, scored three runs in the top of the seventh and held B-G to secure the 4-3 win.
B-G took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Danica Park reached on a dropped third strike and advanced to second on a groundout by Alessandra Cafasso. Park came in to score on a two-out RBI single by Jayslin Henderson.
Both teams were held scoreless through the next two innings with B-G scoring another run in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Brenna George drew a walk, stole second, and hustled in to score on Breanna Casey’s RBI single to right field.
Oneonta got on the board in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice play as the Bobcats scored in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch.
