B-G softball advances with a big win over Delhi to open sectional play

ONEONTA – After some rainy weather, affecting field conditions, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats and the Delhi Bulldogs softball teams met for the opening round of Section IV, Class C tournament at All-Star Village in Oneonta. Delhi took an early 4-0 lead in the first before B-G built a big lead, which turned into a 21-9 victory.

B-G went about three times through the lineup in the bottom of the first to build a 14-4 lead. Delhi added more runs in the fourth and fifth innings with B-g holding a steady lead. The Bobcats offense went back to work in the fifth with a five-run inning before closing the door with two more runs in their final at-bats in the sixth. Delhi scored two final runs in the seventh.

B-G scored 21 runs on 16 hits, including four hits from Brenna George, who tied for a team-high of four RBIs. Three hits came off the bats of fBreanna Casey and Alessandra Cafasso. Cafasso hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning over the left field fence and finished with a team-high four RBIs. Kaylin Furgason and Danica Park had two hits and three RBIs as Kate Baciuska drove in two runs and Emma Kinter, Jayslin Henderson, Casey, and Tori Suda each drove in one run in the win.
