County expands lease agreement for OES space

NORWICH – Expanding services – and the subsequent need to expand work space – has led county officials to modify an existing property lease agreement for the Office of Emergency Services (OES).

OES was running low on office space, according to department heads, and had sought county board approval to lease additional office space at its current location on County Road 32, just outside the City of Norwich.

A board resolution passed unanimously in June, permitting OES to earmark $10,850 of its revenue accounts for an office lease with 24 34 Property Holding, LLC, the proprietor of OES headquarters in Norwich.

The original five-year OES lease agreement was signed in 2023, giving the department access to approximately 6,000 square feet of garage and office space. Needs of the department have grown since incorporating emergency medical services, causing it to outgrow its former space at the Chenango County Correctional Facility in the Town of Norwich. The location provides OES with space for offices, classrooms, and equipment storage.
