Norwich PONY sweeps Edmeston

MORRIS – The Norwich PONY League team traveled to Morris High School to close out a three-game set with Edmeston. Norwich swept the series and came home with a comfortable 14-6 victory. Norwich sits about a game behind Unatego in the A division with a record of 4-1 as Unatego is unbeaten this summer at 4-0.

Norwich took an early 3-0 lead against Edmeston as Gavin Burrell doubled on two pitches to lead-off the game. He stole third and scored on Pierce Sherman’s one-out, two-run double as Blayne Sutton, who walked, scored as well. James Sprague followed with a single and Sherman stole home during Luke Waters’ at-bat.

Edmeston got on the board in the bottom of the second and tried to tie the game in the third, but Norwich added an insurance run to lead 4-3.

Norwich piled on the runs in the top of the fourth inning, scoring 10 runs and held Edmeston to three final runs.

Two straight walks helped Norwich strike in the fourth as Joey Parker drilled a double to left to bring in Mason Brunick. Pierce Sherman came away with another RBI as he had an infield single. Parker scored on a steal of home while Sherman stole both second and third before Sprague doubled to bring in Sherman.
