NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm girls’ soccer team hosted the Oxford Blackhawks for their first MAC league contest of the 2025 season. It was also both team’s third game after competing in tournament play. It was a back and forth affair that left both teams scoreless after the first half, after the second half, and after two 10 minute overtime periods. Both teams saw many scoring chances, but fell short.
UV’s Noelle Fernandez-Naughton and Logan Lindholm saw three shorts on goal while Myriah Taylor and Molly Gorrell each had two opportunities.
UV’s goalkeeper Kora Johnson saw many shots come her way, making a total of 17 saves on the night.
Oxford’s Paige Rickard and all-time leading goal scorer Kayla Knapp led the team with four shots on goal.
Peyton Cummings and Jayne Fleury saw a few great opportunities, along with Colette Kappauf, Ahnalee Kappauf and Jordan Palmer.
Both defenses and goalkeepers stood their ground to prevent anyone from scoring in the 0-0 tie.
UV (1-1-1) hosts their annual NY Pizzeria on Friday and Saturday while Oxford (2-0-1) hosts Delhi on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
