UV takes third in annual NY Pizzeria Tournament, defeats Norwich in consolation game

NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley girls’ soccer team hosted the annual NY Pizzeria tournament over the weekend, featuring Norwich, Milford, and Oneonta. The tournament started on Friday evening and ended with the championship and consolation game at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Norwich fell to Milford 4-0 on Friday as UV fell short to Oneonta 2-1 to face the Purple Tornado in the consolation game on Saturday.
The two local Chenango County teams battled and were scoreless until Myriah Taylor netted one after switching fields to put the Storm up 1-0 at halftime. Emily Fernette made it 2-0 with a slow roller to the left hand side off a pass from Molly Gorrell.
