Norwich girls swim hosts Owego

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ swim team hosted Owego at George Echentile Pool in the high school on Tuesday night. Owego took the scoreboard points, but Norwich’s swimmers continue to see individual success.

Mikayla Sastri led Norwich with four first place finishes on the night, including leading the 200 and 400 relay teams. She picked up two season-best times in both the 50 free (28.09 seconds) and in the 500 free (5:54.27) individually. Sastri, Olivia Palmer, Jillian Petrie, and Alexandria Shtrauch earned the first place finish in the 200 with a time of 1:59.55. The same group also won the 400 relay with a time of 4:30.29.

Shtrauch came away with a top finish in the 200 free event with a time of 2:19.10. She also finished second in the 100 free with a new personal best time of 1:12.12 as Raeley Patterson earned a fifth place finish (1:22.85).
