CHENANGO COUNTY — Recently, at the Chenango County Farm Bureau's (CCFB) annual meeting, a new chairman and directors were elected.
Jeff Austin, Jr. was elected as Chairman along with directors Matt Hanehan, Cat Reeder and Bevan Jones.
Chairman Austin went to Harpursville High School and was a former dairy farmer from 2005 to 2017. He is now a Partner and Inventory Specialist at Austin Farm Enterprises and said he looks forward to bringing more youth to CCFB.
“I am happy for the opportunity and have already been involved with some social media and public events,” said Austin. “I would like to make a big push toward getting more young people with agriculture backgrounds involved with CCFB.
“We plan to host a corn-hole tournament next summer as well as a pancake breakfast,” he said.
“Being a voice for lobbyist to help lawmakers understand our views and beliefs about topics is more and more important as we become a smaller part of the population,” Austin added.
