Chenango County Bird Club meeting to host photo contest and naturalist photographer Rick Bunting

All are welcome to join the Chenango Bird Club meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, in the Visitor Center of the Rogers Environmental Education Center main building, located at 2721 NY-80 in Sherburne. Parking will be in the big lot.


Bird Club Communications Chair Dan Pfeifer said there will be a brief business meeting preceding the program. The program agenda will start with participants judging club member photos, anonymously displayed.


“Attendees can vote for their favorite photo across five categories,” said Pfeifer.


He said they will also celebrate with their annual Friend of Birds Award, honoring one deserving person from the local area.

The presenter for the evening will be club member Rick Bunting. He will feature his favorite photos and stories from 2025 and offer an opportunity to catch a glimpse of nature's design that hides during casual observation.


“Rick is an enthusiastic naturalist and photographer living in southern Chenango County,” Pfeifer said. “He is well known for his observations of Great Blue Herons and other wildlife at “The Swamp” during nesting season.”
