Starting Tuesday, December 9, the price of the Evening Sun will go up by 50 cents

Sometimes we have to make tough decisions, and this is one of those moments. The Evening Sun means a lot to us, and I hope it matters just as much to our readers and the community.

All expenses associated with producing the “Sun” have risen sharply over the years since our last price change. Additionally, losses in our retail sector and their reduced advertising revenue have made subscription income even more essential.

Unlike other newspapers that have raised prices regularly, we held off. This may not have been the best business move, but the Evening Sun has always been about more than profit. There’s no financial gain in publishing the “Sun,” but I don’t want to be remembered as the person who ended Chenango County’s paper of record.

As you pick up any issue of the “Sun” this week, consider all the stories, photos, and recognitions you enjoy—these would not exist without the “Sun”.
