NORWICH — Firefighters from the Maydole Hose Company No. 2 have donated $500 to Stanford J. Gibson Primary School to help provide winter coats, boots, hats, and gloves for district students in need.
During the presentation, first graders from Stanford J. Gibson accepted the donation on behalf of their school. The funds will help ensure that students at both Stanford J. Gibson and Perry Browne Elementary have the warm clothing they need this winter.
Company President Patrick Ford said the contribution continues a long tradition of community support. “At our meeting two weeks ago, we again voted to continue this much-needed annual donation,” Ford said. “Our membership takes great pride in helping the community, as it has done for one hundred and thirty-eight years.”
School staff will use the donation to assist students facing economic hardship during the cold months ahead.
