Norwich's Connor Marshall breaks school record at 607 Invitational

CORTLAND—Another record was broken over the weekend for a member of the Norwich Purple Tornado indoor track team as Connor Marshall broke the school record in the 55 meter hurdles. Marshall, a senior, took second in the event with a new best time of 8.65 seconds to now hold the school record. The previous record, Coach Horan noted, was held by Nate Ashton at 8.68 seconds in 2011.

Congratulations, Connor. Fellow senior Kaden Downey had broken the weight throw record last weekend.

Norwich, Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, and Unadilla Valley all competed in the 9 a.m. session of the 607 Invitational at SUNY Cortland.

BGAH:

Girls' Track:

Maddie Ingham led the BGAH girls with a first place finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:20.07. She also took fifth in the 300 meter dash with a time of 46.22 seconds with Laila Williams in 25th (53.24 seconds) and Emma Snow in 30th (55 seconds).

The BGAH girls' indoor 4x200 meter relay team took third with a time of 2:02.63 with the 4x800 team in fourth with a time of 13:55.75 and the 4x400 relay team in ninth (5:57.56).

Appalonia Bushaw came in second in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.92 seconds with Brenna George in third with a time of 7.97 seconds. Snow had another 30th place finish with a time of 8.92 seconds.

Tabitha Charette, Solara Spinella, Madison Joslin, and Shweta Fazio all competed in the 1500 meter race walk, finishing third, fourth, fifth, and sixth place respectively.

Aside from competing in the 300 meter dash, Laila Williams also ran the 600 meters. Williams ran to a seventh place finish with a time of 1:56.74. Jenna Wilson came in 19th place with a time of 2:09.06 as Madi Beardslee finished 22nd (2:12.55) and Ariana Nieves in 30th (2:28.39).

Macey LaFever finished 16th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:31.84.

Girls' Field:

Appalonia Bushaw led the BGAH girls' team in the fielding events with a first place finish in the long jump. Bushaw jumped 16 feet, one and a quarter inches.

Brooklinn Hall finished ninth in the long jump with a jump of 13 feet, one and a quarter inches as Elanor Sprow came in 12th place (12-9) and Railey Odell in 24th (11-2.25).

Hall, Sprow, and Spinella all competed in the triple jump. Hall finished seventh with a jump of 28 feet, six inches. Sprow had a jump of 25 feet, eight and 3/4 inches for 10th place as Spinella finished 12th (23-2.75).

Abbagayle Fitzgerald came in sixth place in the shot put event with a throw of 26 feet, one inch with teammate Jaylee Kehoe in 10th with a throw of 24 feet, one inch. Kelsey Brewster finished 20th with a throw of 19 feet, six inches.

Emilie Hopkins had a sixth place finish in the weight throw with a throw of 21-7.25.

Boys' Track:

Connor Davy, Owen Degan, and Harpo Hardt led the BGAH boys with second place finishes in their respective track events. Davy took second in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.65 seconds with Hardt in fourth with a time of 6.80 seconds.

Isaiah Hampton had a seventh place finish in the same event with a time of 6.96 seconds as Jake Barber finished 13th (7.08 seconds).

Hardt came in second in the 300 meter dash with a time of 38.65 seconds while Camren Cuozzo came in 21st with a time of 44.53 seconds and Rj Dalmida in 28th (46.13 seconds).

Degan was the lone BGAH male competitor in the 1600 meter run, where he took second with a time of 4:43.96.

The BGAH boys' 4x800 meter relay team took fifth with a time of 10:17.68 as the 4x200 meter relay team finsihed eighth with a time of 1:51.68.

Jackari Garipoli finished ninth in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:39.35 with teammate Mason Lans in 22nd with a time of 1:50.90.

Sean Fowler and Brennan Andres both ran the 1000 meters, where Fowler finished eighth with a time of 2:48.82 and Andres in 24th (3:47.75).

Boys' Field:

Isaiah Hampton also had impressive fielding performances to go with track as he took second in the high jump, clearing five feet, eight inches and finished eighth in the long jump (17-4.50).

Jake Barber had a jump of 16 feet, seven and a half inches for 11th place in the long jump as Zane Mumbulo followed in 12th place (16-5).

Matthew Wombacker earned a fourth place finish in the pole valut (8-6) with Aiden Lockwood in sixth (7-0).

Ryan Larsen had the best throw in the boys' shot put event. He threw for 38-9.01.

Cj Closs finished seventh in the weight throw event with a throw of 21 feet, 10 and a quarter inches and finished 12th in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, five inches.

Aiden Lockwood had a 15th place finish in the shot put with a throw of 27 feet, 11 inches.

NHS:

Girls' Track:

The Norwich Purple Tornado girls' indoor track was led by Malea Sutton, Laci Zieno, Bri Cirigliano, Ava Cirigliano, Carolyn Wright, and Nora Collins.

Ava Cirigliano led the girls with a third place finish in the 300 meter dash with a time of 45.55 seconds as Bri came in 22nd with a time of 52.48 seconds and Collins in 34th with a time of 59.36 seconds.

Sutton came in ninth place in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:58.66 and finished 12th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:20.27.

Wright and Collins both competed in the 55 meter dash, where Wright finished 32nd with a time of 9.19 seconds and Collins in 34th with a time of 9.43 seconds.

Zieno had a 34th place finish in the 600 meter run with a time of 2:45.39.

Girls' Field:

Reagan Decker led the Norwich girls' in the fielding events with a second place finish in the high jump, clearing four feet, four inches. She also jumped 29 feet, two inches in the triple jump for sixth plae.

Malea Sutton took fifth in the pole valut, clearing six feet.

Olivia Palmer earned a fourth place finish in the weight throw with a throw of 24 feet, six and a half inches and finished 16th in the shot put with a throw of 20 feet, five inches. Samatha Palmer finished 30th in the shot put with a throw of 16 feet, two inches.

Skylar Rombeg and Natalie Phillips both threw in the weight throw as well. Romberg came in seventh with a throw of 21-6.75 with Phillips in ninth (13-11.25).

Boys' Track:

Aside from Marshall's second place finish and record-breaking time in the 55 meter hurdles, Nic Sutton also did well for the Norwich boys in the track events. Sutton took fifth in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:59.51 and came in ninth in the 100 meters with a time of 2:50.48. Teammate Patrick Mulwane finished 19th in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:20.84.

The Norwich boys' 4x200 relay team took fifth with a time of 1:44.11.

Joseph Hall had a 14th place finish in the 300 meter dash with a time of 42.81 seconds as Cameron Carnachan finished 16th in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.24 seconds with Malik Eccleston in 21st (7.50 seconds).

Orren Doolittle came in 26th place in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:54.24.

Boys' Field:

Kaden Downey continues to lead the Norwich boys' in the fielding events as he came away with the top finish in his prominent weight throw event. Downey had a throw of 57 feet, 11 and 3/4 inches. Liam White took second with a throw of 47 feet, three and a half inches.

Connor Marshall took third in the high jump, clearing five feet, eight inches and jumped 17 feet, five and a half inches in the long jump for seventh place.

UV:

Girls' Track:

The Unadilla Valley Storm girls' 4x800 relay team took first with a time of 11:29.28 as the 4x400 team took second with a time of 4:48.36, short of Vestal's 4:30.56.

Natalya Schrag took third in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:36.18 with Margaret Kemnah behind her in fourth with a time of 3:41.02.

Madison Dix earned a sixth place finish in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:55.98 as Molly Gorrell finished ninth with a time of 1:57.42.

Cheyenne McMahon finished 16th in the 300 meter dash with a time of 51.39 seconds as Piper Hine came in 19th with a time of 51.96 seconds.

Sophia Bell and McMahon also competed in the 55 meter dash with Bell in 19th with a time of 8.53 seconds and McMahon in 21st (8.60 seconds).

Bell also competed in the 55 meter hurdles, where she took ninth with a time of 11.12 seconds.

Girls' Field:

Piper Hine and Madison Anderson were the lone female competitors for the Storm in the fielding events. Hine finished 19th in the long jump with a jump of 12 feet, four and a quarter inches.

Anderson competed in the shot put, where she finished 21st with a throw of 19 feet, three inches.

Boys' Track:

UV's Jake Favinger ran to a sixth place finish in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:05.24 as the Storm 4x400 meter relay team also finished sixth with a time of 4:20.48.

Latham Retz earned a 10th place finish in the 300 meter dash with a time of 41.69 seconds with Donovan Ballard in 19th (44.33 seconds) and Killian Wood in 25th (45.54 seconds).

Wood ran to a 13th place finish in the 600 meters with a time of 1:43.51 as teammate Peyton Nelson finished 29th with a time of 2:00.06.

Ballard and Retz both competed in the 55 meter dash with Ballard in 22nd with a time of 7.58 seconds and Retz a couple spots behind in 24th (7.69 seconds).

Boys' Field:

Killian Wood and Peyton Nelson also competed in the long jump for the Storm. Wood jumped 13-9.75 for 22nd and Nelson jumped 12 feet, five inches for 26th place.
