Bank bomb threat, 3-D printing assault weapon parts, and a pair of drug dealers, top recent grand jury cases

CHENANGO COUNTY - The Chenango County District Attorney’s Office recently presented several cases to a grand jury on Dec. 17 who charged several defendants with alleged crimes related to: threatening to blow up a Norwich bank; a Greene resident possessing an assault rifle and using a 3-D printer to make illegal weapon parts; an Afton home invasion; drug dealing in Sherburne; and a sex offender hiding a social media account.

Thendara L. Hartwell was indicted on terroristic threat charges from an alleged incident in the Town of Norwich.

The indictment charges Hartwell with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony, alleging that on Aug. 5, she called the Community Bank on State Highway 23 and threatened that a bomb would go off in ten minutes if she did not receive all of her money, causing the evacuation of the building and nearby businesses.

Hartwell was also indicted on falsely reporting an incident in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, alleging she knowingly made a false report or warning of an explosion under circumstances not likely to result in public alarm, which nevertheless caused public alarm and inconvenience.

Andrew Spinner was indicted on multiple weapons-related charges from an investigation in the Town of Greene.

The indictment charges Spinner with several counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, class D felonies, alleging that on Nov. 18, at a Palmiter Road address, he knowingly and unlawfully possessed an assault weapon and multiple large-capacity ammunition magazines containing .223 and .22 caliber ammunition.
