Unatego/Franklin/UV wrestling competes at Johnstown
JOHNSTOWN— The Unatego/Franklin/Unadilla Valley Spartans competed in Johnstown’s Mountain Duals on Saturday. The Spartans brought 12 wrestlers to the meet. Unatego/Franklin/UV fell in all rounds they competed in, even though individual wrestlers did see success.
Nolan Boyles won all four matches in the 215/285 weight class with three win by pins and a win by forfeit.
Yanni Drapaniotis also won all of his matches in the 190/215 class with all five pins, including a :10 second pin on Shoreham-Wading River’s Jer’Shawn Coffey.
Gavin Nordberg won all five matches in the 132 weight class with all pins, including a :28 second pin against Saranac’s Bradyn Turcotte. Logan Lafferty went 2-0 with wins by forfeit.
Sava Gonopolskiy went 3-1 with a win by forfeit, a 19-12 decision, and a pin. He fell to Baldwinsville’s Kaleb Pollock in a 3:33 pin.
Bryden Sheldon went 1-3 with his lone win coming by forfeit.
Caleb Wildenstein went 2-3 with a 10-1 major decision and a win by 4:37 pin.
Calvin Butts, Caden Champion, Trent Deboer, Maxwell Finch, and Itzu Guttman fell in their respective matches.
Unatego/Franklin/UV will be at Oneonta’s Ross Cordell Rotary Tournament on Jan. 2 and 3.
