S-E boys fall in overtime to South Lewis
SOUTH LEWIS — On Monday, the Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves boys’ basketball team returned to South Lewis High School for the holiday tournament championship. Both teams battled to tie the game at 43 at the end of regulation. However, South Lewis outscored S-E 14-9 in overtime to secure the 57-52 victory.
South Lewis started off hot in the first quarter, holding S-E to four points. S-E got back on track in the second quarter, but found themselves down 26-16 at the break.
The Timberwolves made a great attempt at a comeback in the second half in which they held the Falcons to four points in the fourth quarter. S-E was up by one in the final minute of regulation, but South Lewis made a free-throw to tie the game to force overtime.
Kyler Buschor led S-E with 19 points as Jordan Palmer had 15 points. Both standout players made the all-tournament team. Congratulations.
Cam Mann added nine points as Nolan Sigman finished with seven in the loss.
S-E’s JV team fell 45-31 to Sauquoit Valley with Jay Tackabury leading the Timberwolves with 11 points and Jason Daring with seven points.
S-E Varsity boys are currently 4-5 on the season and will return to action in the new year home against Waterville on Jan 5 at 7 p.m.
