Norwich baseball falls short vs Oneonta
NORWICH—On Tuesday evening, the Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team opened up a three-game set against rivals Oneonta at home.
The Purple Tornado came up short 4-2.
After three scoreless innings, Oneonta got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth inning before adding on in the sixth and the seventh.
In their final at-bats, Norwich scored its two runs as Kolby Redenback had a one out single and moved to third on Owen Olds' double before scoring on Michael Brunick's groundout.
Olds scored on Joey Parker's RBI single before the final out.
Connor White and Kolby Redenback both led Norwich with two hits while Parker, Olds, and Zac Turner also had hits in the loss.
Carmine Pastore worked five solid innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, six walks, and struck out eight batters.
Pierce Sherman pitched two innings in relief, allowing two runs on two hits, and one walk.
Norwich (2-5) heads to Oneonta for game two of the three-game set on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
