OXFORD — With some light rain showers, the Oxford Blackhawks and Sidney Sabers softball teams resumed a previous suspended game on Tuesday afternoon. Sidney led 6-1 in the top of the third inning before thunder and lightning stopped the game on April 14.
Oxford’s Reagan Long had an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning before play stopped.
The Blackhawks resumed the game in the top of the third with a runner on base. Oxford fell 15-2 on Tuesday.
Oxford’s Peyton Cummings scored the second run as she came in safely at home in the fourth inning. Cummings and Long had the only hits for the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks defense also turned a double play with two pickles at first base, where the tag was applied for the out and then pickle at third and home, where Catcher Emmalee Reiss tagged the runner out.
Lily Marshman worked the complete game, allowing 15 runs (four earned) on 11 hits, two walks, and struck out 11 batters.
Oxford (5-2) heads to Delhi this afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
