MORRIS - Butternut Valley Alliance (BVA) is accepting artist submissions for On the Trail of Art, its annual forest exhibition, to be held June 13-14 at General Jacob Morris State Forest.
Artists are invited to submit weatherproof work for outdoor display along a forest trail transformed into an immersive gallery. Artists may also contribute work to BVA’s online auction. Submissions can be made at butternutvalleyalliance.org or by emailing info@butternutvalleyalliance.org.
“This is BVA’s sixth year presenting this outdoor art show, which highlights the region’s artists and connects art and environment in a meaningful way,” said Maggie Brenner, BVA Chair. “With wandering musicians, poetry readings, and performances tied to America’s 250th anniversary, it’s shaping up to be a magical event.”
Selected artists will install work on Friday, June 12, from noon to 5 p.m., with deinstallation on Sunday, June 14. Overnight security will be provided, and additional details will be shared with participants.
The exhibition will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held Friday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunderberg Gallery in Gilbertsville.
On the Trail of Art features work by student artists from Edmeston, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton, Morris, and Laurens Central schools alongside local artists with deep ties to the Butternut Valley. This year’s festival will include strolling musicians, poetry, live bands, art demonstrations, and a treasure hunt for commemorative hand-blown crystal balls. Select installations and events will reflect on America’s 250th anniversary.
