NBT Bank to mark 170 Years with community celebration and fireworks in Norwich

NORWICH — NBT Bank invites the community to celebrate a remarkable milestone as the company marks its 170th year of existence with a special evening of music, family fun and fireworks on Thursday, August 20, at the NBT Bank Summer Concert Series in Norwich.


This “birthday” celebration will take place during the concert series doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. featuring performances by John “Papa” Gros and Desoto Tigers Testimony. Organized by the Chenango Blues Association and sponsored by NBT Bank, the popular summer concert series has long been a community tradition in Norwich.

As part of the anniversary celebration on August 20, NBT Bank will offer free ice cream from the NBT Bank Ice Cream Truck; Fun crowd giveaways; a grand fireworks display at dark, following the second performance.

“Reaching 170 years is a meaningful milestone, but this celebration is really about the community where NBT began,” said Shauna Hyle, NBT Bank’s Executive Vice President of Retail Community Banking. “We're proud to be part of the history of Norwich and grateful for the opportunity to gather with neighbors, friends and families to enjoy live music, local traditions and a special evening together.”

The Chenango Blues Association, which organizes the annual concert series, said it is proud to help commemorate the anniversary during one of Norwich’s signature summer events.


“The Chenango Blues Association is honored to be part of NBT Bank’s 170th anniversary celebration,” said Eric Larsen, President, Chenango Blues Association.


“For years, NBT Bank has been a steadfast supporter of our community and the arts. We’re thrilled to help bring people together through live music as we celebrate this significant milestone and the bank’s enduring commitment to Norwich and the surrounding region,” he said.


The event is free and open to the public.
