Oxford softball falls short to Harpursville
HARPURSVILLE— The Oxford Blackhawks softball team traveled to take on Harpursville on Tuesday, where the Blackhawks came up short 5-3.
After starting the 2026 season 5-0, Oxford has since dropped its last five games and are currently 5-5 on the season.
The Blackhawks took an early 1-0 lead on Jenna Denz's two-out RBI single.
Harpursville went ahead 3-1 after two before Oxford scored a run in the top of the third on Denz's RBI triple and a run in the fourth on a wild pitch.
The game was tied at three apiece until Harpursville scored two runs in the bottom of sixth and secured the victory.
Lily Marshman and Cora Hodge split the game, where both pitched three innings for Oxford.
Marshman got the start and allowed three earned runs on four hits, a walk, and struck out seven batters.
Hodge allowed two earned runs on two hits, five walks, and struck out six batters in relief.
Oxford (5-5) heads to face Deposit-Hancock on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
