SHERBURNE – The Friends of Rogers are excited to announce new volunteer opportunities for pollinator habitat restoration this spring.
Guided by talented and passionate staff, community members are invited to plant wildflower seeds, trees, shrubs, and make new meadows with the Friends of Rogers all throughout the spring. Interested individuals are advised to contact Gil Polk, Community Engagement Coordinator, at Gil@friendsofrogers.org.
“There’s something so powerful about caring for the land together,” said Polk. “We leave the world a little better than we found it while giving ourselves the gift to reconnect with nature, community, and purpose.”
Funding for the Great Pollinator Project comes from the Office of the New York State Attorney General and The New York Community Trust, through the New York Pollinator Conservation Fund.
“When we heal the planet, we heal ourselves,” said David Carson, Executive Director for the Friends of Rogers. “This community wide effort to restore wildlife habitat at Rogers represents a wonderful opportunity to gather together, find peace through planting, and restore the spirit of environmental protection that is inherent in us all.”
Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome, and no prior experience is necessary—just a passion for nature and community engagement. Those interested in volunteering can get involved by contacting Gil Polk at gil@friendsofrogers.org, calling (607) 674-4733, or stopping by the Rogers Visitor Center.
